An event to celebrate diversity and the Year of Young People (YOYP 2018) will be held at eh15 Restaurant at Milton Road tomorrow evening (Tuesday 27 March).
‘Cabaret Diversity’ will see students from our Schools Academy events course collaborate with our Performing Arts and Music students to deliver an evening of performances to celebrate and promote diversity across the college.
Performances will include ‘Estampas’, which is a song written by Federico Moreno Torroba, comprising eight, short movements, called ‘pictures’, which were written about different aspects of Spanish life, performed by the college’s guitar ensemble. Musical Theatre students will then perform selections from their recent musical revue titled ‘Side by Side by Sondheim’.
A keynote speech will be given by Professor Sir Geoff Palmer OBE, Honorary President of Edinburgh and Lothians Regional Equality Council (ELREC). Professor Palmer is a Professor Emeritus in the School of Life Sciences of Heriot-Watt University and is a human rights activist. In 2007, he was named amongst the 100 Great Black Britons at the Bicentenary of the Abolition of the Slave Trade in the British Empire.
There will be a buffet and refreshments. Places can be booked on Eventbrite.
