College comes out top at UK Masonry Skills Challenge

The results are in for the 11th annual UK Masonry Skills Challenge and following a competitive contest against eight other colleges across the UK, Edinburgh College has been crowned third overall winner.
Edinburgh College student Hamish Innes was announced fourth overall winner and first Northern Heat winner,​​ while Calum Munro was seventh overall winner.
​The competitors had to complete a specific project in an agreed time. Using a drawing, a piece of stone and the material necessary for making moulds and templates, the stone had to be worked with a traditional mallet and chisel with no technical tools allowed.
Organised by Stone Federation Great Britain, the challenge is open to teams of three apprentices from each stonemasonry college in the UK.
