Edinburgh College will play host to a heat of the UK’s largest student hairdressing and beauty competition for the first time at its Granton Campus next week.
Students from colleges across south Scotland will descend on the capital on Monday 11 February to compete in the Association of Hairdressers and Therapists (AHT) Scotland South heat.
The students will vie against each other in a range of categories across the barbering, hairdressing and beauty therapy disciplines. Categories include: ladies commercial blow dry and finish; men’s barbering cut and finish; half body painting; 1940’S make-up; fantasy hairdressing; ladies evening cut and many more.
Judges on the day will assess the look each student has given to their model on category-specific criteria before presenting, gold, silver, bronze and merit awards. The first three places (gold, silver and bronze) in each category progress to a national final to be held later in the year.
