Thirty Edinburgh College Professional Cookery, Hospitality and Events students had the chance to work at the Hospitality Industry Trust (HIT) Scotland’s annual dinner at the Sheraton Grand Hotel and Spa in Edinburgh.
The event on, which is one of the largest events in HIT’s calendar, saw the students working both in the kitchens and serving front of house to a room of 450 guests from across the Scottish hospitality world.
This is the sixth year that Edinburgh College students have had the opportunity to work at the prestigious event.
HIT Scotland is a Scottish-based charity whose mission is to assist people to achieve their potential within Scottish hospitality.
Kate Dobson is an event manager at Event Consultants Scotland, which was involved in the organisation of the event.
She said: “We were delighted that the students were able to come along and work at the HIT Scotland lunch. Every student helping is a huge value to the event and I do hope they all enjoyed their experience as they did themselves proud. The money raised on the day was over £42,000, which is a fantastic result for the charity. It is involvement from people helping at the event such as the Edinburgh College students that helped to make the day such a success. We have received wonderful feedback from many of our guests and we are thrilled that the event was such a success, and hope to work with Edinburgh College in the future.”
