Thirteen Edinburgh College Hospitality students served up a treat at the R&A’s prestigious, annual dinner at the Fairmont Hotel in St Andrews.
The students, from a range of HN, NC and Academy of Hospitality and Tourism courses, worked front of house at the event, serving to a room packed with 450 guests.
Formed in 2004 and based in St Andrews, The R&A engages in and supports activities undertaken for the benefit of the sport of golf.
Despite deriving its name from the members’ golf club, The R&A is separate and distinct from The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews.
The event at the Fairmont was their biggest dinner of the year for members.
Professional Cookery and Hospitality lecturer Richard Morris supported the students during the event.
He said: “It was a fantastic evening and I can’t praise the students enough for their work ethic and commitment. They did exceptionally well and received excellent feedback from the R&A on the service they provided and were even commended for contributing to the whole team performing above expectations. The students should be proud of their work and I hope to develop further work experience opportunities with the R&A in the future. A huge thank you to the Fairmont hotel for providing our students with a chance to work at such a prestigious event.”
