Jon is Photography Lecturer of the Year

Professional Photography Course Lecturer Jon Lee is celebrating after being named Lecturer of the Year at the Association of Photographers (AOP) Student Awards.

Jon was presented with the Lecturer of the Year award during a ceremony in London, in front of a crowd of 220 professional photographers, students and lecturers.

Nominations for the Lecturer of the Year category are submitted by students who nominated Jon for the support he gave them throughout their course, his style of teaching and for inspiring them to produce the highest quality work they can.

The AOP Student Awards recognise the best of those studying photography, as well as Lecturer of the Year and Course of the Year.

Jon attended the ceremony with a group of the college’s BA Professional Photography students, including Laura Felui, Sarah Newman and Leesa Tullock who were also finalists in the Student Awards.

The students exhibited their work during the ceremony and throughout the week at the Free Range exhibition , receiving high praise from their peers and photography professionals.

Talking about his win, Jon said: “I was honoured and very surprised to win the award. I didn’t know the students had nominated me until the Association of Photographers got in touch. The nomination coming from the students makes it extra special.”

“I have enjoyed working with them and I am immensely proud of the work they have produced this year. I’m also honoured to have been selected as the winner by the Association of Photographers.”
