HND Interior Design students are putting their creative skills to the test after being tasked to design a room in a show home for Miller Homes’ new development in Gilmerton, Edinburgh.
The second year students will gain real life experience working with the homebuilder and the winning student will see their creation come to life at the brand new show home at the Kings Gate development, which is due to open in February 2017. The students will work with interior designer Eileen Kesson of Envision and can choose to design any room in the property.
The designs will be judged in December by Miller Homes’ Sales and Marketing team as well as Eileen Kesson, with the lucky winner revealed in the new year.
Neil Gaffney, Miller Homes’ Sales & Marketing Director, Scotland said: “Our show homes are one of the most important parts of the customer journey. The minute a buyer walks in they have to be able to picture themselves living there and a lot of that is down to the look and feel of the décor. The students have a challenge on their hands to create something which is not only aesthetically beautiful, but also appeals to a number of different Miller customers.”
To get inspired, the students visited Eileen Kesson at Envision in Stirling who gave them a guided tour of her show room. The students inspected different colour palettes, textures and key pieces that will appeal to a variety of buyers.
