Modern technology helps Edinburgh College students explore their creativity

A group of Edinburgh College students recently took part in a workshop designed to enhance their digital imagery skills at the Apple store on Edinburgh’s Princess Street.

The College’s first year HND Illustration students visited the store to be given an introductory session on using Procreate by an Apple expert, before being able to work on a task set to them as part of the College’s GLOW Festival.

Taking inspiration from an artist who regularly uses technology, the students were tasked with using the Procreate app on the store’s IPads to create digital imagery for the GLOW Festival brochure.

Edinburgh College Visual Communication Lecturer Glen McBeth said: “There has been a notable rise recently in the amount of students using modern technology such as IPads to create their artwork. It was good to give the whole class a taste of this and I was really impressed with the work the students created for this project. I’m sure the digital skills they learned will be used for many years to come.”

“I would like to thank the Apple Store for the entertaining and informative workshops – the students had a great time creating the GLOW Festival imagery”
