Edinburgh College Graphic Design student Lena Sakura has been revealed as one of six finalists for the design of Scotland’s baby boxes for newborn children.
Lena, who is studying HND Visual Communication: Graphic Design, is among the group of six students from colleges and universities on the final shortlist. Students were asked to produce a beautiful, inspiring design for the outside of the baby box, which will be given to all newborn babies. Lena’s design is themed around a bus. The other finalists’ designs include woodland creatures, the Loch Ness monster and famous Scottish symbols.
The winning designer will appear on every baby box once they launch in summer. They will also receive mentoring from two top Scottish designers and a £1,000 prize.
Every newborn baby across the country will receive a baby box full of clothes, bedding, books and mother and baby care items.
More than 70 students applied for the design competition, being run by the V&A Dundee, to decide what the boxes will look like.
