Talented students have an eye for design

Two budding interior designers from Edinburgh College will see their creations come to life in Miller Homes’ brand new Kings Gate showhome, which opened in Gilmerton, Edinburgh on 11 February 2017.

Dawn Hope (25), from Leith and Miroslawa Gembolis (37) from Musselburgh beat off stiff competition from their classmates to win an interior design competition run by Miller Homes last year.

The four bedroom Douglas showhome will take pride of place at the development and incorporates the students’ work. Dawn’s hare inspired nursery will be located on the top floor of the home and includes a delicate, child-friendly colour palette of pastel greens, creams and greys. Downstairs, Miroslawa’s elegant lounge will make the best use of the natural light, and be finished with aqua and copper accents.

Having mentored them through the design process, Miller Homes’ interior designer Eileen Kesson was thrilled with the winning entries. She said: “The students at Edinburgh College presented some fantastic entries – they definitely didn’t make the judging process easy for us!

“Not only are Dawn and Miroslawa’s designs creative and well thought out, but they really capture the essence of the Miller Homes brand. I’m sure they will be a real talking point when the show home opens.”

Neil Gaffney, Miller Homes’ Sales & Marketing Director Scotland, was also on the judging panel. An expert in knowing what potential buyers want to see in a showhome, he is delighted with the winning designs explaining: “Dawn and Miroslawa have created two beautiful rooms for our Douglas showhome which are not only stylish and eye-catching but will appeal to a variety of different Miller Homes customers.

“The showhome is an integral part of the customer journey and often the deciding factor on whether a potential buyer makes an offer. The look and feel of the décor has to be absolutely perfect, and we think the winning rooms will definitely add to the wow factor of the home.”

Miller Homes’ Kings Gate development in Gilmerton offers a stunning collection of 46, two, three and four bedroom homes. With open farmland to the south of the development, Kings Gate has plentiful scenic views and a rural feel, but is also just five miles from Edinburgh’s city centre – perfect for home buyers looking to enjoy the best of both worlds.

To see the finished showhome, pop into the development from 11 February 2017, Thursday to Monday from 11am-6pm. For more information on Kings Gate visit the development, call 03334 142 099, or visit www.millerhomes.co.uk
