Childhood Practice Course Information Events

If you are considering starting a career in early learning and childcare, then now is a great time to start.

The Scottish government is committed to increasing the early learning and childcare core entitlement from 600 to 1140 hours per year by 2020. Part of this commitment is funding for qualifications including the HNC Childhood Practice and the PDA Childhood Practice at SCQF 9.

The HNC Childhood Practice is accepted by the SSSC to register as a childcare practitioner and the PDA Childhood Practice at SCQF 9 is accepted for registration as a manager.

Edinburgh College will offer additional places on both courses in the 2017/18 session. Courses will start in January 2018. There will be full-time and part-time options for the HNC Childhood Practice and part-time options for the PDA Childhood Practice at SCQF 9. Funded places will be available (subject to SAAS part-time fee grant applications where appropriate).

We will also be offering Access to PDA courses at SCQF 8 to ensure applicants have the required credits for entry.

There will be information events as follows:

Sighthill Campus – Wed 11th October 4-6pm

Granton Campus – Thurs 12th Oct 6.30-8.30pm

Midlothian Campus – Tues 24th Oct 6.30-8.30pm

Sighthill Campus – Thurs 2nd Nov 6.30-8.30pm
