Faces of Glow – Natasha Ryan

Twenty-year-old HND Graphic Design student Natasha Ryan from Edinburgh can’t wait to showcase her final project at the Fruitmarket Gallery from 6 – 8pm on Wednesday 5 June as part of the end-of-year Engaging Employers and Schools exhibition.

“I’m really looking forward to the exhibition, it’s like a celebration of my time at College and will give me the opportunity to showcase my work to all my friends and family and I can’t wait. Preparations for the exhibition have been great, my classmates and I have put loads of hard work into the event and can’t wait to welcome everyone to the exhibition.

“I’ve come a long way since I started my NC course three years ago. When I first started, I had very little knowledge of graphic design and the software that we use, and if it wasn’t for the help and support from my fantastic lecturers and classmates I doubt I would’ve made it this far.

“The biggest challenge I’ve overcome during my time at College has definitely been when we first started pitching our ideas to an audience. I’ve always found it hard to stand up in front of people and present, but once I realised that no one really enjoys doing it, and had plenty of practice, I was a lot more confident and managed to present in front of real clients including UNiDAYS and Direct Line.

“I’m looking forward to seeing what everyone thinks of my final project. I chose to do a campaign that would help raise awareness of the issues surrounding men’s poor mental health. I knew it would be a hard campaign to do, but it’s such an important issue right now and I’m really pleased with how my work has turned out.

“This exhibition is the culmination of three years of hard work and at College, there’s been many tears and tantrums, but I’m really proud that I’ve managed to pull it all together.”
