We know that this year has been challenging for a lot of people. School exams were cancelled for the first time, which might have left you feeling a bit uncertain about your future. We’ve put together some information about the type of support that is available to you as a student, so you can take your next steps with Edinburgh College feeling confident and supported.
Learning Development Tutor (LDT)
Learning Development Tutors (LDTs) act as the main point of contact for full-time students. This means that you will have a friendly face to offer support and guidance when you first start college and throughout your studies.
Student Services team
Our Student Services team are committed to helping you throughout your time at college by providing information on a range of topics. They can help with things like student finance and funding, accommodation, finding part-time work, interview skills and, UCAS applications.
Student Services are open to take calls from students between 10am – 1pm and 2pm – 4pm every day. You can talk to them about areas of student life including funding applications, accommodation, support services, job application help and more.
Wellbeing team and mental health support
The wellbeing team are here to help make sure you enjoy the best possible student experience and provide services to support your mental health. They run mental health workshops and can provide support with mentoring and study skills.
All students at Edinburgh College have access to SilverCloud Health, an online mental health platform. SilverCloud offers a range of emotional support programmes, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), which are designed to help improve your mental health and wellbeing.
If you need additional support with your learning at college, our learning support team can create a personal learning support plan with you to make sure you have all the support you need during your studies. If you include information about a disability or additional learning support need on your application, a member of the team will be in touch to talk with you about this.
Contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
There are several funding options available depending on the type of course you are studying. You may be entitled to a bursary or Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA), which will help pay for living expenses. To find out more about financial support available for students visit the Student Funding and Fees section of our website.
Edinburgh College Students’ Association (ECSA)
When you enrol at Edinburgh College you will become a member of Edinburgh College Students’ Association (ECSA). ECSA support all students at the college and make sure their voices are heard through a class rep system. Visit ecsa.scot to find out more about ECSA.
